ENT is a commonly used abbreviation for ears, nose, and throat. The dysfunction of ear, nose, and throat can affect the quality of life and may also lead to medical emergencies. Tonsillitis, ear infections, sinus infections, allergies, sleep pane, hearing loss, vertigo, acid reflux, and cancer are among the most common ENT conditions. These diseases can be congenital or acquired. Trauma, infections, inflammation, and vascular and neurological conditions can lead to acquired ENT diseases. Antihistamines are common drugs used to treat allergic conditions such as allergic rhinitis. Similarly, antibiotics such as azithromycin and amoxicillin are used to treat infections such as otitis and tosilitis. Analgesic and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are also used to treat ENT conditions to relieve pain, decrease inflammation, and reduce fever. The development of novel drugs and increasing number of drugs obtaining FDA approvals are the factors likely to stimulate the growth of the market for ENT disease therapeutics.
