In the UAE, there is a high prevalence of diabetes. For instance, according to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), in 2017, 17.3% of the UAE population between the ages of 20 and 79 have type 2 diabetes. Over 1 million people live with diabetes in the UAE, placing the country 15th worldwide for age-adjusted comparative prevalence. Additionally, diabetes is a regional affliction with Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar, all featuring in the top twenty countries in terms of prevalence worldwide. Rapid economic growth, sedentary lifestyles, and unhealthy diets characteristic to the UAE are all risk factors, leading to the number of people with diabetes expected to double to 2.2 million by 2040. Many of these patients are advised regular intravenous administration of insulin, which increases the demand for syringes.
Infectious diseases are the second-top cause of deaths worldwide and are among the top causes of death in children under age 5. Similarly, there is a growing prevalence of infectious diseases in the UAE. For instance, according to the Department of Health -Abu Dhabi, in 2018, 46965 cases of communicable diseases was found in Abu Dhabi Emirate, Influenza (A, B, H1N1, & Unspecified): 22447, Chickenpox: 4290, Scabies: 2472, Measles (Rubeola): 1429. Many of these infectious diseases are treated by injectable vaccines, which increases the demand for syringes.

The growing adoption of injectable drugs to treat chronic and infectious diseases is expected to drive Syringe market growth during the forecast period.
