The DVT preventive pump market is expected to reach US$ 519.81 million by 2028; registering at a CAGR of 4.4% from 2022 to 2028,according to a new research study conducted by The Insight Partners.

Type Segment to Dominate DVT Preventive Pump Market

The rising cases of cardiac disorders and stroke and growing prevalence of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) among the geriatric population are boosting the growth of the DVT preventive pump market. However, the lack of skilled professionals, side effects associated with pumps, and availability of alternatives are hampering the market growth.

DVT Preventive Pump Market Forecast to 2028 - COVID-19 Impact and Global Analysis By Type (Lower Extremity and Upper Extremity) and End User (Hospitals & Clinics, Surgical Centers, and Others)

DVT is a condition that occurs when a blood clot (thrombus) is formed in one or more veins, especially in the lower extremities. It can cause pain and swelling, and in some cases, it leads to pulmonary embolism, a life-threatening condition. Cardiovascular and stroke patients are more prone to DVT as the condition affects the overall blood flow of the body. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), approximately 900,000 people are expected to be affected by DVT annually in the US, and ~60,000-100,000 deaths are registered in the country every year. Moreover, the geriatric population is susceptible to DVT as they have restricted movements along with other chronic conditions, such as diabetes and orthopedic disorders, which contribute to the prevalence of DVT. According to the National Library of Medicine, the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) is higher in the population aged 65 years and above. Additionally, coexisting comorbidities exhibit a high mortality rate among the geriatric population. Thus, the rising prevalence of DVT across the globe is driving the growth of the DVT preventive pump market.

Based on type, the DVT preventive pump market is bifurcated into lower extremity and upper extremity. The lower extremity segment held a larger share in 2021, and it is expected to grow rapidly during the forecast period. DVT that occurs in the legs and pelvis is known as lower extremity DVT. It can affect an individual at any age and can be caused due to various factors, such as damaged veins as a result of an injury or operation. Half of the blood clots are formed after surgery or during the hospital stay. Blood can pool and is more likely to clot during bed stay or long sitting durations, leading to lower extremity DVT. Moreover, the treatment for DVT involves mechanical prevention (compression devices or stockings and venous filters), drug therapy (low-dose unfractionated heparin, low molecular weight heparins, direct oral anticoagulants, and others), and the use of intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) devices. The IPC devices help to prevent blood clots in the deep veins of the legs. The devices increase blood flow through the veins of the legs by using cuffs around the legs that fill with air and squeeze the legs, thus preventing blood clots. Additionally, current recommendations for postoperative DVT prophylaxis after total joint replacement (TJR) include anticoagulant medications and IPC of the lower limb for a minimum of 10-14 days. After hospital discharge, most patients go home on pharmacologic DVT prophylaxis, and they are recommended at home or external compression therapy (IPC or compression stockings). Thus, the use of DVT preventive pumps is growing to reduce the incidence of DVT among the population and provide early prevention of DVT in the lower extremities.

Devon Medical Products Inc, Breg Inc, Bio Compression Systems Inc, Cardinal Health Inc, Arjo AB, Mego Afek Ltd, DJO LLC, Currie Medical Specialties Inc, Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc, Medcaptain Medical Technology Co Ltd, and ThermoTek Inc are a few of the key companies operating in the DVT preventive pump market.

The report segments the DVT preventive pump market as follows:

The DVT preventive pump market is segmented on the basis of type, end user, and geography. Based on type, the market is bifurcated into lower extremity and upper extremity. Based on end user, the market is segmented into hospitals and clinics, surgical centers, and others.

By geography, the DVT preventive pump market is segmented into North America (US, Canada, and Mexico), Europe (UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and the Rest of Europe), Asia Pacific (China, Japan, India, Australia, South Korea, and the Rest of Asia Pacific), the Middle East & Africa (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Africa, and the Rest of MEA), and South & Central America (Brazil, Argentina, and the Rest of SAM).
