According to The Insight Partners' research, the North America Trenchless Pipe Relining Market was valued at US$ 1,274.9 Million in 2024 and is expected to reach US$ 1,964.6 Million by 2031, registering a CAGR of 6.5% from 2025 to 2031.

Technological advancements such as robotics and automation in pipeline rehabilitation and rapid urbanization and smart cities development are among the critical factors attributed to drive the North America trenchless pipe relining market growth.

Trenchless technologies involve methods of new pipe installation with minimal surface and environmental disruptions. The introduction of robotics is a prominent technological advancement in the field of trenchless pipe relining. Trenchless pipe repair robotic lateral reinstatement cutters are essential for cutting holes from the inside of a small-diameter pipe and restoring existing connections. These rugged robots are configured to allow specialized situations to be navigated with straightforward design and assembly. ProKASRO provides trenchless pipe rehabilitation using advanced robotic technology. This method allows for pipe rehabilitation without causing traffic disruptions or noise pollution, ensuring the safety of the workforce while saving time and effort. Additionally, in February 2023, GE showcased a carbon-cutting pipe-building robot designed to inspect and restore natural gas pipelines.

Similarly, in July 2023, Vortex Companies announced the launch of the Vortex Tap Cutting Institute. The institute is located at the Vortex Products facility in Greenville, South Carolina. It features a fully functional robotics simulator to demonstrate to individuals the correct way to cut taps without the risk of damaging liners or pipes. In February 2023, the same company announced the inclusion of the small-diameter IMS MICROcure LED CIPP Curing System in its product portfolio. The solution is specifically engineered to reline sewer laterals, interior, mains, and plumbing systems ranging from 3 to 10 inches in diameter and works with both inversion and CIPP methods. Thus, technological innovations such as the introduction of robotics in the field of trenchless pipe relining are expected to emerge as a significant trend in the trenchless pipe relining market in the coming years.

Robotic systems are increasingly being deployed for trenchless sewer rehabilitation, enabling remote-controlled operations that improve safety while reducing labor requirements and enhancing precision. Rehabilitation robots can work on damaged areas from inside pipelines, clearing penetrating plants and accumulated deposits and applying repair materials without human entry into potentially hazardous underground environments. Advanced robotic systems can adapt to different pipeline conditions and perform complex rehabilitation tasks with minimal human intervention, representing a significant advancement in trenchless technology capabilities. The intensive use of automation and digitalization in robotic systems facilitates the operation and control of technology, accelerates work processes, and effectively ensures the quality of rehabilitation measures. Autonomous milling robots have been developed for main sewer and house connection applications, offering multifunctional capabilities, including filling, grouting, and internal pipe sealing systems. The PI.TRON multifunctional robots (developed by Pipetronics for trenchless sewer rehabilitation) can be quickly and easily adapted to different rehabilitation techniques using a bayonet lock system, providing unprecedented versatility in a single robotic platform. These robots can handle five different rehabilitation applications, including filling systems, seal setting tools, waterjet cutting adaptations, and heatable setting tools for hat profiles. Pipeline robots are being used to cut, grind, and shape pipelines with high precision, with many repair methods requiring water flow maintenance during the process. Advanced robotic systems can remove intrusions and obstructions such as tree roots, connections, and foreign materials and can cut junctions post-patch installation or grind chamfers on displaced joints. High-pressure water pipeline robots can handle water pressures up to 43,500 PSI, performing precise cutting and removing stubborn blockages that traditional methods may find challenging. The development of tiny autonomous in-pipe robots (Pipebots) that can traverse and map pipe networks using advanced sensing to detect defects before they escalate represents a revolutionary advancement. Research proposals for autonomous reconfigurable robots (Fixbots) aim to develop systems that can navigate pipe networks, identify areas of concern, and perform repairs, ensuring ongoing maintenance. In simulations, deploying 15 pipebots for in-pipe inspections in a 120 km network could prevent 22 leaks, avoiding up to 4 days of network downtime and an estimated 8.2 t CO?e in emissions. Over the next decade (2031-2041), these integrated robotic solutions will advance from prototypes toward fully autonomous systems operating beneath, on, and above roads.

On the contrary, the lack of awareness regarding trenchless pipe relining hampers the growth of the North America trenchless pipe relining market.
