The MEA defense drone antenna market is expected to grow from US$ 44.68 million in 2019 to US$ 64.43 million by 2027; it is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 5.0 % from 2020 to 2027.

The Saudi Arabia, UAE, and South Africa are major economies in MEA. Progressive refinement in drone antennas is expected to soar the MEA defense drone antenna market. The stupendous increase in the drone usage among the defense forces across MEA is leading several companies, universities, and research labs to channelize their efforts toward technological enhancements. An antenna is among the key technologies on an unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) since the component facilitates the communication between the UAVs and Base Station (BS). With an objective to enhance the communication capabilities of the modern-day military UAVs, a group of researchers in MEA has developed compact, sabre-like antenna that can switch between two radiation patterns for better communication coverage. The traditional sabre-like antennae generate a donut-shaped radiation pattern, which provides omnidirectional coverage; they are perfect for air-to-ground communication; however, these antennae face limitations in establishing communication with satellites (hemisphere coverage). Thus, to overcome this limitation, researchers have invented a novel technology that would enable the UAVs to provide signals to satellites directly. This would enable faster data transmission, which would allow the military forces to act quickly. The novel antenna technology incorporates two metal radiators; the first is a monopole radiator, while the second is a dipole radiator. The monopole radiator is perpendicular to the ground with an omnidirectional signal transmission pattern, and the dipole is parallel to the ground with a broadside pattern, which allows creating a signal that fills the technological gap of the blind spot (communication with satellites) in conventional sabre-like antennas. Thus, the refinement and developments in drone antennas such as novel technology will increase the demand of drone antennas in coming years, which will drive the MEA defense drone antenna market.

Further, in case of COVID-19, MEA is highly affected specially Iran. Other major countries that are facing the economic impact of COVID-19 include Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt, Morocco, and Kuwait. The MEA defense drone antenna market is majorly affected by the disruption in the supply chain. Pertaining to the closure of borders of countries, the supply chain of several components and parts have been disturbed. The demand for advanced defense equipment and components for modernizing and strengthening the UAVs has weakened over the past couple of months. This has resulted in a loss of business among the local and international defense drone antenna manufacturers. The ongoing COVID-19 crisis will impact the defense drone antenna market growth of the MEA region for the next few quarters.

With the new features and technologies, vendors can attract new customers and expand their footprints in emerging markets. This factor is likely to drive the MEA defense drone antenna market. The MEA defense drone antenna market is expected to grow at a good CAGR during the forecast period.
